WAMPTRONICA is a southeastern Massachusetts-based collective formed by Mashpee Wampanoag music creatives, bringing together a diverse community of artists, many of whom are First Nation people. At its core, the collective shapes a distinct and evolving sound they define as Deep Afro Jazz House Music; a fusion of house, jazz, soul, funk, and Afrobeats grounded in live instrumentation, improvisation, and ancestral rhythm. The group’s primary production team, DaPhunkee Professor and The ZYG 808, drive this sonic identity, blending formal musical training with deep cultural influence to create music that is both forward-thinking and rooted in tradition.
WAMPTRONICA’s mission extends beyond music alone: reclaiming public spaces as Indigenous presence, creating safe and welcoming environments for people to gather, and cultivating communal musical experiences that reconnect movement, spirit, and community. Through pop-up dance events, collaborations, and cultural programming across New England, the collective transforms galleries, libraries, community centers, and outdoor spaces into vibrant zones of connection and expression.
Their signature events, including The THUMP & SOUL SESSION, and the traveling pop-up event, THUMP & SOUL on the MOVE embody this vision, merging DJs, live musicians, dancers, and poets into immersive, participatory environments. Beyond the dance floor, WAMPTRONICA extends its voice through media and storytelling platforms. Their weekly radio show, FROM the UNDERGROUND, airs on WNB One Radio and is also available as a podcast across all major streaming platforms, showcasing their signature sound alongside global underground selections. Complementing this is their journal, HOUSE of WAMPTRONICA, an editorial space documenting their philosophy, musical explorations, and the cultural narratives surrounding their work.
As recording artists, WAMPTRONICA continues to expand its reach with original productions released through Poly-Groove Records and the legendary Eightball Records. Their growing catalog captures the essence of their Deep Afro Jazz sound: rhythm as ceremony, basslines as storytelling, and the dance floor as shared ground.
